Home/ Gutter advice

What decides the price of gutter cleaning?

There is no single price for a gutter clean, because no two houses are the same job. These are the things that move the price up or down.

Size and type of property

A mid-terrace has two short runs of gutter. A large detached house can have gutters on four sides plus a garage and a porch. More gutter means more time.

Height

A bungalow is quick. Three storeys, town houses and gutters above a steep drop take longer and need longer poles or extra safety measures.

Access

Conservatories, extensions, narrow side passages and locked gates all slow the job down. A gutter vacuum reaches over most obstacles, but it still takes longer than a clear run.

How long since the last clean

Dry leaves lift out in minutes. Years of compacted moss and silt with plants rooted in it has to be dug out and can need two passes.

Blocked downpipes

A downpipe blocked at a bend or underground takes extra time to clear and test.

How to get a fair price

  • Ask for a fixed price in writing before the work starts
  • Check the price covers every gutter, the downpipes and taking the waste away
  • Ask for before and after photos
  • Be wary of a price given without any questions about the property

We price every job this way: one fixed figure, agreed before we start.
