What we see most

Gutter problems we fix across the North West

It rains a lot here, and most gutter trouble starts small. These are the six jobs we are called out to most.

  • Gutters overflowing in heavy rain

Water pouring over the front edge means the run is full of leaves and silt. Left alone, it soaks the wall below and can cause damp inside.

  • Moss washed down from the roof

Moss on concrete and clay tiles breaks off in wet weather and settles in the gutter, where it holds water and blocks the outlet.

  • Blocked downpipes

A gutter that fills up and never drains usually has a plug of debris at the outlet or in the bend of the downpipe. We clear it and test it.

  • Dripping joints

Rubber seals in uPVC gutter joints perish and the lengths pull apart. A drip at a joint is normally a quick reseal or a new union.

  • Sagging gutters and broken brackets

The weight of wet debris snaps brackets and pulls gutters out of line, so water sits in the dip. We refit the run to the right fall.

  • Green and black roofline

North-facing fascias and soffits go green with algae and black with mould. A proper wash brings white uPVC back up.

FAQ

Gutter cleaning questions

Do you charge to come and look?

No. We look at your gutters and give you a fixed written price free of charge. You only pay if you go ahead.

How much does gutter cleaning cost?

It depends on the size of the property, how high the gutters are and how easy they are to reach. A terrace costs less than a large detached house with a conservatory in the way. We give you a fixed price before we start, so there is nothing to add at the end.

How often should gutters be cleaned?

Once a year suits most homes. If you have trees close to the house, or a roof that sheds a lot of moss, twice a year is safer: once after the leaves have dropped in late autumn and once in spring.

Do you use ladders or a gutter vacuum?

Both. A gutter vacuum on a long pole lets us clear most gutters from the ground, including over conservatories and extensions. Where a ladder gives a better result, such as packed moss or a blocked outlet, we clear it by hand.

Do you clear the downpipes as well?

Yes. A clean gutter is no use if the downpipe is blocked, so we check each outlet and downpipe is running before we leave.

What are your opening hours?

We are open 7 days a week, 6am to 8pm.

Can you repair a leaking or sagging gutter?

Yes. We reseal leaking joints, replace broken brackets and cracked lengths, and refit gutters that have dropped. If the whole run is past repair we can price a replacement.

Do you clean and replace fascias and soffits?

Yes. We wash green and black staining off uPVC fascias, soffits and gutters, and we repair or replace boards that are rotten, cracked or coming away.

Do I need to be at home?

Not usually. As long as we can get to every side of the property, for example through a side gate, we can do the work while you are out and send you photos when it is done.

Which areas do you cover?

We cover Manchester and the North West, including Salford, Bury, Bolton, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan and Warrington, plus parts of Lancashire and Cheshire. The full list of towns is on this page.
